Our mission is to empower diverse Indigenous communities to protect cultural birth resiliency and the fundamental Indigenous human right to reproductive health, dignity, and justice.

Communities Served

CWI serves families in central, northern and western New Mexico. 

In 2024, families from Albuquerque, Belen, Brimhall, Chilili, Cochiti Pueblo, Corrales, Dulce, Edgewood, Grants, Isleta Pueblo, Laguna Pueblo, Los Lunas, Moriarty, Navajo, Peralta, Pojoaque, Rio Rancho, Saint Michaels, San Felipe Pueblo, San Idelfonso Pueblo, Santa Fe, Santo Domingo Pueblo, Thoreau, Tijeras, Tohajilee, Veguita, and Zia Pueblo;

reflecting Cochiti, Diné, Indígena de las Américas, Jicarilla-Apache, Kawaika, Katishtya, Keresan, Kewa, Ohkay Owingeh, Po-Woh-Geh-Owingeh, Shiewhibak,
Tewa and Zia communities.

Decolonized Midwifery Programs

In the last few years, CWI has provided midwifery care to over 256 families, with 98% of those receiving free care. We have also trained over 86 Indigenous Doulas in partnership with Zaagiidiwin Indigenous Doula program.
