Angelique Steadman was drawn to birthwork through her personal pregnancy journey as a teen. Fueled by the challenges and lack of support systems available for pregnant and birthing people, she was inspired to serve the most vulnerable in her community. In 2012, Angelique became a full-spectrum doula and later co-founded Ember Birth Services, a doula practice in her home community of Albuquerque NM. In 2020, with the violent murder of George Floyd, Angelique was moved to further with her birth work by becoming a student midwife apprentice, which she completed in 2024. Today she is co-founder and matriarch of The Reproductive Sanctuary. Angelique also has the honor of mentoring her daughter along her own journey as a birthworker.
